Are there any FWD cars that have performance versions of them that are AWD or even RWD?
RS500 for your time.

Almost all the really extraordinary Grp B cars, for starters. Then there's the mid-engined Renault Clio.
One rather more obscure example is the MG Rover 75/ZT.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MG_ZT
All of them, and the Rover 75 it was based on, were FF - except for the top spec 4.6l V8 version, which was FR.

You betcha. The MG ZT/Rover 75 was your standard FWD executive saloon car. The ZT 260 was a RWD, Ford V8 powered sports saloon.

They don't make it anymore but the Mazdaspeed6 was AWD while the standard models were FWD.

MG ZT which is essentially sporty Rover 75 has both front and rear wheel drive versions. There are lots of FWD cars with AWD performance versions, Golf R32 for example.

You bastards are too fast. I also came in to post the MG ZT V8, but there's already three people who got it.

I can't think of any in the US, but there are plenty overseas. Renault Clio, and Renault 5 come to mind.

Lancer - Evolution
Old DSMs like the Eclipse and Talon could be had with awd.
Also, Dodge made a turbo Caravan that came in awd. Not sure if that counts but they were pretty cool for minivans.

Standard AE86 Corolla was FWD, but a few were RWD. It's rare for a platform to support both.

I don't know the AE86 very well, so I'll leave it to someone who actually knows what they're talking about to describe specifics so I don't get it wrong. All I know, in vague terms, is the AE86 worked with FWD or RWD.

VW Golf R
Not technically a GTI by name, but it's basically an AWD GTI with a healthy shot of horse steroids.

As far as I know, they all have AWD variants below the quickest spec, but the base model is FWD.

Not the impreza. All the Subarus in the US are awd (except BRZ which is RWD)

In the US, maybe. It's an FWD platform with AWD options, though.

I left scoobies off the list because (at least in the US) no one buys the fwd versions.

Well, it just looks like an Impreza. You can't see the drivetrain from the outside. Look on Wikipedia if you doubt it exists, though.

The fifth gen Celicas for sure, ST/GT/GTS were FWD, and the GT-Four was AWD:

I know 1st gen Audi TT's were FWD or AWD....
Anything with FWD architecture could be AWD really. And likewise anything RWD could be AWD like the Porsche 911.
